Mr. Chung Tam is the Executive Director of Sino-American Logistics Council, LLC. where he oversees the consulting, education, training and certification programs. Mr. Tam also serves as President of Chicago China Gateway LLC., an investment firm developing multimodal transportation solutions connecting China with the American Midwest region.
He is recognized by both Chinese and U.S. governments as an expert in the logistics and transportation field and has played a leading role in promoting U.S.-China cooperation. His initiatives include establishing the Sino-American Logistics Conferences, the Yangtze-Mississippi Dialogue, promoting hazardous goods transportation standards and cold chain logistics in China.
Mr. Tam has consulted the U.S. Department of Transportation for the US-China Transportation Forum, a high-level dialogue between the two countries’ transport policy makers. He has advised the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Department of Homeland Security on China related matters. He is also a member of the United Nations Global Partnership for Sustainable Transport expert group.
Mr. Tam is recognized as a foreign expert by the Development Research Center of the State Council P.R. China contributing to the “Proposal for Promoting the Reform and Innovation of China’s Logistics System Mechanism”, “Basic Ideas for Accelerating the Development of China’s Logistics Innovation” and the Asia Development Bank study on “China’s Agricultural Logistics Study”. He has written the “American Multimodal Transport Development Study” for China Ministry of Transport and co-authored the “Strategic Research on Building Wuhan National Logistics Center” report for Wuhan government and Hubei Province. He recently produced a report on “The construction of the logistics and supply chain hub of the Greater Bay Area in Baoan District” for the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs and the Shenzhen Baoan District government.
